About

The UC San Diego Faculty Association (SDFA) is a member of the Council of University of California Faculty Associations (CUCFA) which coordinates the advocacy work done on behalf of UC Senate faculty by the various campus Faculty Associations.

As part of CUCFA, the SDFA participates in consultations with the UC Office of the President over proposed changes to systemwide UC policies that affect Senate faculty. Recent subjects of consultation have included: the UC Retirement Plan, Health Insurance benefits, Salary parity with our “Comparison 8,” Conflict of Interest and Outside Activities policies, Incompetence, as well as Intellectual Property and Copyright issues.

The SDFA is a voluntary membership organization of Senate faculty. Since the Faculty Senate is state-funded, it is barred from direct political lobbying. The SDFA provides Senate faculty with an independent political arm. Our bylaws are available for viewing HERE.

You can learn more about SDFA on our FAQ page.  If you are interested in joining the SDFA, check out the Join Us! page.
