SDFA faculty come out in support of student protests

SDFA faculty members came out in support of student protests on campus from November 7-9, held on several campuses in response to proposed student tuition increases that would amount to 16% uptick over the next four years.  The UCSD protests, organized by several students groups including the Public Education Coalition and the People’s Assembly at UCSD, drew scores of students and many faculty members, including SDFA members.  The university-wide protests appear to be having a positive effect; on Tuesday November 8th, UC President Mark Yudof backed down from putting forward the tuition hike for a vote at next week’s UC Regents meeting at UCSF.
